I would love to do some portraits, kids, or even you and your cute pets! It's even better if you get a group of people.. it's cheaper! SO if you are free, pick a day, and email me for more details!

Some New Stuff: I'm SO EXCITED!

It's a little cliche to have that title for the post because it seems I have been really excited lately. But that's no complaint. I have been deep, DEEEEEEP, in work getting many shoots done so I can soon unveil a few of these projects I am working on. One being the trailer for WHITE CAT by Holly Black and the other a teaser trailer for MIERADOME by Kate Hagerty. Both so, SO different but so exciting in their own right. I get con men on once end a fairy on the other with wings. Yes, wings which I am making myself. Take THAT for dedication!

I am also really excited to be in development of sorts on Anastasia Hopcus' trailer for SHADOW HILLS. We're working on some REALLY neat stuff and can't wait to hopefully surprise you with them.

And finally my big, new and shiny news I want to share is that I am doing a trailer for Heidi Kling for her book SEA. If you don't know Heidi you're missing out! And I am thrilled to work on this with her. MOSTLY because it is my first non-fantasy-ish trailer.

Here's a few pictures non related to the trailers that I will leave you with. Just because they are cute and I haven't done portraits in quite some time.

NEW CONTEST!!! For Authors!

A few weeks ago or maybe a month or two ago I did a spontaneous photo shoot for my friend Victoria Schwab whose book will come out sometime next year called The Near Witch.

This was the result of it:

Lexie2

Now the fun thing about that for me was that she sent me a little tease I went out and shot something that related to it. It was a fun experiment of sorts for both me and Victoria and since I love doing character based shoots I thought I want to do it again.

I've done a few so far and I really enjoy them!

So here's the contest:

**Tell me your book Title, your genre, your character (girl, boy, animal?, both?). Basically gimme that "tease" I can go off and shoot on.

If you blog about me, my blog, or my contest you get +5 Entries!

Entries DEADLINE: March 5th(ish) I might extend it!
Open to: At Least Agented Authors.

The winner will not only get this shoot done but will also get a digital file to use for themselves.

Keep in mind I am somewhat limited on what I can do. No aliens, please!
Also, if you want to keep the teasers secret from the world feel free to email them to me at vandsmedia[at]gmail.com

This is what SNOW is?

I am not a cold person. At all. And I value that I live in Georgia where it rarely gets below 30 at its coldest and rarely do we see snow. But this year has been a freezing cold winter. In fact, it's been a really strange year with the first flooding in ages and way too much water for Georgia to hold. So I shouldn't be surprised that today classes got canceled, schools closed, stores closed all way too early. Before we even see the first flakes drop from the sky.

I shouldn't be surprised that people are panicking hitting the stores as if we'll be snowed in for a month. Shouldn't be surprised that when the snow starts hitting it also starts sticking. And for the first time in some odd years we actually get to have a snowy, white, fluffy winter. The best we get is a slushy mere centimeters of flakes that melt away as the noon heats up the ground. But luckily today, we get FOUR inches of fluffy goodness and hence four inches of a white blanket that just beckons me like a siren to photograph it.

So I did. And because I hate the cold I venture out around my yard for all of 10 minutes. But it was so gorgeous! Maybe more tomorrow if the roads don't ice.

What Have I Been up to?

Mostly lately I have been sick. MUCH better but I guess it's kinda stuck in there and I can't get it out. It's a nasty thing, I tell ya!

But I will back up a bit and say that the Southern Tour with Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl was such an experience and I hope maybe one day I get to do it again! We met such great people, amazing indie bookstores and the wonderful people who run them, many passionate librarians and many passionate readers!

I am now back home and busy working on a few projects and all at the same time. Which to me it's not only a new thing but an exciting thing! All such great projects and working with new people and I couldn't be happier! And I cannot wait to share all this with you when I can!

I am also planning away a portfolio this semester. As it is also a one of my last ones I wanted to do something I love so I am making three themed videos. I will try and update this as much as possible but since it's still only an idea I'll give you a hint: Whimsical, haunting, fantastical. Exciting, no?

So, until I return with a trailer or some graphic design work or who knows what other secret project, I leave you with some the above photos from the tour and go see more on the CasterGirls.com (Beautiful Creatures Fansite)

I want your thoughts on BOOK TRAILERS

I am always very curious what people think about book trailers but since I am in the business of making them no one will really tell me the truth. :D

So I made up a little questionnaire that I would love for yo all to fill out. Let me know what you think. It is all anonymous so I can't come after you with pitchforks. Not that I would of course! :D

Thanks, everyone for taking the time to do this. Looking forward to seeing what you all think.
